No Mess November!
Now’s the time to prep the house for the holiday season!
The holiday season is fast approaching and that means the guests are coming! Before the mayhem of the season starts, it’s a good idea to get some of the bigger (and often-forgotten) chores off of the task list!
Here are 5 chores you can do throughout the month of November in order to prepare for the upcoming holidays!
Drawer Duty!
Take the time to go through those kitchen drawers! Take out utensils, clean the bottoms of the drawers, and organize your utensils (removing what you don’t ever use!).
You’ll be thanking yourself when you don’t have to go digging around for the turkey baster while hosting!
Front Closet!
Time to get ready for guests! Make room in that front closet to hold everyone’s coats and boots! Don’t forget to take out your summer shoes and store them away until Spring! Take the opportunity to sweep/mop out the closet floor, a job that often gets overlooked!
Carpets!
If your carpets and area rugs are anything like…well…most people’s carpets, they take a beating over the summer and fall months! A carpet cleaning before the holidays start is a great way to make sure your house is lookin’ its best!
Fridge!
Oh the fridge! The collector of artwork, photos, dust and food! We all know kitchens are where family and friends always gather during the holidays, make sure your kitchen is lookin’ good by doing these 3 things
- Clean up the outside of the fridge – remove any artwork that’s been hanging around a little too long, arrange/update photos, and give it a wipe-down.
- Clean out underneath that beast! Once a year, it’s a good idea to move the fridge and get rid of the dust and crumbs that tend to accumulate under there!
- Give the inside some lovin’! Time for a clean-out and wipe-down! You’ll be able to grab all your delicious holiday treats out of a spotless fridge!
Stove!
Ever feel like your stove looks like the one in the picture here? We use our poor stoves day-in and day-out but when is it time for them to have some TLC? Take care of your stove so that it’s ready to help you feed all your holiday guests! Here are 3 things that will get it sparkling!
- Wipe down the outside – do a thorough wipe-down of the outside of the stove. You can even remove the dials on most stoves and clean them too!
- Pull it out and clean underneath – no-one knows what might be lurking behind the stove but you’ll likely be surprised by all the dust, food and dirt that hangs out there!
- Wipe down the inside – after all of the use it gets, the inside of the stove can get pretty grimy over time! If your oven has a self-cleaning mode you can give that a try (make sure to follow operating instructions) or you can do an old fashioned hand scrubbing!
You’ll thank yourself come holiday time for getting these 5 tasks out of the way. You’ve got enough to do once December hits so make sure to get started while things are a little slower this No-Mess November!
